Mission Statement

The Multimodal and Project Planning Section exists to create accurate, timely, and thoroughly- analyzed solutions addressing the mobility and accessibility of people and freight throughout Arkansas. This is accomplished by respectfully interacting with our customers and colleagues; closely working with other Divisions and Districts to better understand Department processes and to develop practical, achievable transportation plans; continually increasing our knowledge of planning regulations, analysis procedures, and software applications; and exploring and pursuing new opportunities for the Department to best serve the people of Arkansas.

 

The Multimodal and Project Planning Section has the following responsibilities.

- Conducts the Department’s highway improvement studies to provide information to the decision-makers.
- Conduct intermodal transportation planning activities and assists in efforts to maximize the efficiency of the State's transportation modes.
- Oversee the process regarding new or revised freeway access.
- Oversee the Rail Safety Program and coordination with railroads throughout the State.
- Ensure the implementation of the Long Range Intermodal Transportation Plan, the State Freight Plan, and the Arkansas Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Plan.
