LANE CLOSURE ON INTERSTATE 30 IN TEXARKANA

LITTLE ROCK (2-6) A contractor for the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will be performing work that will require a lane closure on Interstate 30 in Texarkana, according to Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) officials.

Beginning Wednesday night, February 7, 2007 the contractor will be hanging steel beams for bridge construction over Interstate 30 at Highway 245 Interchange.  The work will be performed during the nighttime hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.  and  will continue each night for approximately 4 to 6 nights, excluding Saturday night, weather permitting.

During the construction, traffic on Interstate 30 will be reduced to one lane, then routed around the overpass and across  Highway 245 using the exit and entrance ramps, while the Interstate is closed below the overpass.  Traffic on Highway 245 will be controlled by flaggers while Interstate 30 traffic will be routed across Highway 245.

As always, motorists are urged to avoid the area by taking an alternate route, if possible and to exercise caution when approaching and traveling through highway work zones.
