LITTLE ROCK (5-16)  

     Motorist traveling on Interstate 40 or Interstate 55 in the West Memphis area should expect delays 

beginning May 19^th and continuing through May 22^nd.

       A contractor for the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will stop traffic

on the Interstates for 30 minute intervals between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

each evening.  The delays are necessary so crews can install new overhead message boards. 

      The stoppages on May 19^th will be located in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 between 

the Mississippi River Bridge and the Riverside weigh station.  On May 20^th, eastbound traffic

on Interstate 40 will be stopped just west of the Airport Road E xit.

      On Interstate 55, southbound traffic near the Bridgeport weigh station will be stopped on

May 21^st.  Northbound Interstate 55 traffic will be stopped on May 22^nd between the

Mississippi River Bridge and the Bridgeport weigh station. 

      Single lane closures will begin each night at 8:00 p.m. in these areas to prepare for the

work even though the total traffic stoppage won’t begin until 11:00 p.m.
