AHTD REOPENS HIGHWAY 7 AT PELSOR

    LITTLE ROCK (9-24)

Highway 7 in northern Pope County has reopened to traffic, according Dan Flowers, Director of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD).

The section of Highway 7, just south of Pelsor and north of Dover, had been temporarily closed to through traffic due to flood damage associated with recent hurricanes.

“Crews reopened both lanes of the highway to traffic late Wednesday afternoon,” stated Flowers.  “We originally thought we would be limited to one lane, but two lanes are now open.”

Traffic is using temporary asphalt lanes that are 12-feet wide with two-foot shoulders.  The lanes are on the original highway location.

Work will continue in the area for six to eight weeks.  Temporary lane closures of short duration may be necessary until the project is finished.
